Students, Train Yourself for Godliness
This Sunday, 5/11, I will be teaching at the main service, speaking a bit to what we are aiming at in Student Ministries. We will not have Student Ministries or evening service this Sunday. For this reason, the previously announced meeting with 5th-grade parents has been moved to 6/1 during equipping hour at 9 am. Enjoy Mother’s Day!
This last Sunday, I shared a similar message with the students as I did to end the year for the women of Wellspring: Train Yourself for Godliness from 1 Timothy 4:7b-9. Just as elite athletes dedicate their entire lives to temporary success, how much more should we devote ourselves—and encourage our students—to pursue godliness, which offers eternal benefit!
I encourage you to review the lesson (the audio, video, and text are on our website). I prepared some questions to help you draw your students out. Feel free to use them or make your own. But this is a lesson that needs to impact these students: Godliness is crucially mandatory for your life, and it isn’t automatic.
- What lessons should a Christian learn from elite athletes?
- To obtain godliness will involve sacrifice. Is it worth it for you? Are you behaving like it?
- What is the connection between salvation and godliness?
- What parts of your life are consistent with the relentless pursuit of godliness?
- What changes are necessary? What planning and preparation would show that you are committed to this and to help you train effectively?
We are almost done with the school year. As a reminder for the upcoming schedule
- May 11: Day off
- May 18: Student Ministries 6-7:30
- May 25: Day off
- June 1: Student Ministries 6-7:30
- June 5-8: Summer Camp!
It is such a blessing and privilege to come alongside you to care for and to evangelize or disciple your students.
Thank you
-Jacob Hantla
