More Thoughts on Prayer (Part 2)

Tom Angstead February 21, 2014

“Prayer is arguably the most underutilized and anemic part of the Christian life for most Christians.  And this is a tragedy considering that God has called us to a life of prayer that is promised to be one of the most significant and powerful opportunities for deepening our intimacy with God and maximizing our usefulness in the world for Christ. The Privilege of Prayer

For what great nation is there that has a god near to it as the Lord our God is to us whenever we call to Him?

Deuteronomy 4:7

For You, Lord, are kind and ready to forgive, rich in faithful love to all who call on You.

Psalm 86:5

The Lord who made the earth,  the Lord who forms it to establish it,  Yahweh is His name,  says this: Call to Me and I will answer you  and tell you great and incomprehensible things you do not know

Jeremiah 33:2-3

“Keep asking,  and it will be given to you.  Keep searching,  and you will find. Keep knocking,  and the door  will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who searches finds,  and to the one who knocks, the door  will be opened. What man among you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you then, who are evil,  know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask Him

Matthew 7:7-11

My prayer: Lord I desire that prayer would be a central priority in my daily life. Lord may I give you the glory you deserve in my prayer.  I thank you that you allow me to come to you and have confidence that you are so near me and hear my prayer.
