Last Night’s Student Ministry Meeting & Camp Teams

Parents,
Last night we had a great time with the students. Our seniors shared their answers to the following questions:
  1. How have you changed most during your time in Student Ministries?
  2. How should what you’ve learned affect your next stage of life after Student Ministries? And how can we pray for you?
  3. Thinking back to your very first time at Student Ministries, what advice would you give yourself?
I’d encourage you to ask your student what they took away from last night’s sharing and how it might impact their time at summer camp and in Student Ministries moving forward. Kiki and I both had valuable conversations with our kids after hearing from our seniors. If you’re the parent of a senior, please thank them again from me for sharing—it was truly impactful.

Leaders and students tend to go all out with clothing and accessories in their team color. Today, Kiki took our kids to the Dollar Store, Goodwill, and Walmart to pick up a few items. Some leaders will also have fun team-spirit accessories for their students. We’ve found that engaging with the kids at this fun and slightly competitive level opens the door to much more meaningful conversations—plus, it’s just a lot of fun.
Lastly, here are a few important last-minute packing reminders. Please also review the email I sent a few days ago:

As you help your camper get packed and ready, here are a few quick but important notes that didn’t make it onto the original list:
    1.    Please avoid packing any peanut products.

We have a number of students with severe peanut allergies, so we’re asking all families to refrain from sending candy, trail mix, or snacks that contain peanuts or peanut butter. Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe.
    2.    Drinks must have secure lids.

Our bus drivers will only allow beverages with screw-on lids. Last year, drinks like Thirst Busters and Starbucks cups were not allowed onboard. Please make sure any drinks your student brings (such as sodas, waters, or juices) have tight-fitting, resealable lids.
    3.    We recommend skipping energy drinks.

We’ve found that kids tend to overdo it on energy drinks. This often leads to dehydration and unnecessary medical issues. Water is best, and we will make sure it is available for their refillable water bottles throughout the week.
We’re looking forward to a great weekend at camp.

Thank you for entrusting your kids to us. I am looking forward to a very fun and fruitful weekend.
