Fellowship Night: More Than a Game
Dear Student Ministries Parents,
This Sunday, February 9, we are hosting a Student Ministries Fellowship Night, and we want to be clear—this is not just a Super Bowl watch party, and it’s not meant to be a night off. This is about something much bigger.
With Winter Camp coming up next weekend—where students will have jam-packed teaching, discussion groups, and plenty of structured time together—we have long wanted to set aside an evening just for fun, fellowship, and unhurried conversation. Meaningful discussion groups happen best in the context of strong relationships, and strong relationships come from spending time together. That’s what this night is for.
We will have ping pong, corn hole, board games, card games, and game rooms set up for students to enjoy. If your student has a favorite game they’d like to bring, they are more than welcome to do so. As many as can, should bring food to share. Sign up here. The Super Bowl will be on in the main student ministries room for those who are interested, but this night is not primarily about football (though it is right for us to have fun enjoying a good game)—it’s about building relationships and enjoying time together.
- Students and families welcome to arrive and settle in
- Super Bowl kickoff
- Game rooms and activities begin
- Younger siblings → Keepers/Defenders meetings
- Parents → Evening service
- Students → Halftime lesson (during Halftime Show, which will be turned off)
- Families welcome to return after service
- Feel free to stay until game end (approximately 8:00- 8:30 PM)
We would love for families to participate, not just by dropping off students, but by joining in extended fellowship, though please ensure that this is Student Ministries only during the evening service. Parents and leaders will also have time together with the students, strengthening relationships that are vital to discipleship. But please be careful not to pull the leaders away from the students they are there to get to know better, serve, and lead.
We’d love for as many as possible to bring food to share! You can sign up here to help us coordinate, but even if you don’t sign up, feel free to bring something.
This night is an opportunity for students, families, and leaders to grow closer through time spent together. We encourage everyone to come ready to engage, care for one another, and enjoy fun & fellowship before heading into a packed and fruitful Winter Camp weekend. We are looking forward to a fun and meaningful night of time together. Let me know if you have any questions!
