How to Know the Bible

Jacob Hantla September 23, 2025

Yesterday at Student Ministries we continued our work through the content of the great workbook, Fundamentals of the Faith. We are in the second chapter, “How to Know the Bible.” Please consider getting this workbook at the booktable or at Amazon. We will be working through the topics of this workbook for the rest of the year.

You can watch and read the message at our webpage or at YouTube.
A few takeaways I encouraged the students to talk with their parents about and to integrate into their home’s relationship with God’s Word:
  1. Get the Fundamentals of the Faith workbook and do the exercises on Bible study from chapter 2.
  2. Read the Bible aloud as a family.
  3. Read the Bible prayer on their own daily.
  4. Begin memorizing Bible verses. I suggested that they consider using music to help. I have found Hide the Word albums by Mark Altrogge to assist. I recommend starting with Word of the Cross or Weight of Glory. If you still use CDs, you can buy all 10 CDs for $10 total. They are streamable on Spotify and Apple Music. There are also great Bible memory apps. I also highly recommend DesiringGod’s Fighter Verses.

Please encourage your students in this. If your family’s life doesn’t have regular time around the Word, this would be a great time to start. If you need help, please reach out. I would love to help you and encourage you in this.

What a privilege it is to come alongside you, along with the many servants in the ministry, to care for, evangelize, and disciple these young souls. Thank you for the privilege.
