Restoration and Church DisciplineJesus directs the church to patiently and gently pursue its sinning believers that they may be won back from their sin. In cases where the professing Christian refuses to repent of sin, Jesus directs the church to remove the unrepentant one from the church family and fellowship. GBC practices church discipline as prescribed by its bylaws in accordance with Matt. 18:15-17, Titus 3:10, Rom. 16:17, 1 Cor. 5:9-13, and 2 Thess. 3:14. Regular attendance at GBC is considered affirmation of this biblical practice. If you have any questions regarding church discipline, please listen to our sermon titled “Your Role in Church Discipline,” located here. The elders are also available to answer any questions.
Book of the Month In June’s Book of the Month, Fighting for Holiness, J.C. Ryle calls Christians out of passivity and into an active fight for holiness, a necessary proof of our saving faith. “Saved souls will always be found to have fought a fight.” This short, powerful book can be read in under an hour, making it ideal to read individually or alongside a roommate, spouse, or smallgroup. For $7 at the booktable, I hope that all of GBC benefits together by reading this in June.
