Defenders of the Faith – Boys Bible Study (Grades 3-5)
There will be a Bible Study starting on Sunday September 16 for boys in upper elementary where they can grow in the knowledge of the Lord and His Word and develop deeper friendships with other boys at our church. We will meet at the church on selected Sunday nights from 6:00-7:30. If you are interested in having your son participate, contact Karla Walker (kmwalker5@hotmail.com) for details about the schedule. Parents are always welcome, but are encouraged to attend our first meeting so we can share our goals and plans.

Discovery Lunch
If you are newer to the church, Discovery Lunch is a great place to enjoy some food, learn more about what the church believes as well as interact with an elder, if you have more specific questions. The next lunch will be hosted at GBC on Sunday, September 23 at 12:00pm-2:00pm. Future Discovery lunches will take place approximately on a monthly basis. Please register online at www.gbcaz.org/events. If you have any questions, please contact the church office (info@gbcaz.org).

Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner
We will be having a Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner on November 3. The dinner will be at 6:00pm at each host’s house followed by fellowship and dessert. If you would like to be a host or a guest please register at www.gbcaz.org/events. Please register by October 14. If you have questions, contact the church office (allie@gbcaz.org).

Restoration and Church Discipline (Matthew 18:15-17)
Jesus directs the church to patiently and gently pursue its sinning believers that they may be won back from their sin. In cases where the professing Christian refuses to repent of sin, Jesus directs the church to remove the unrepentant one from the church family and fellowship. GBC practices church discipline as prescribed by its bylaws in accordance with Matthew 18:15-17. Regular attendance at GBC is considered affirmation of this biblical practice. If you have any questions regarding church discipline please listen to our sermon titled “The Heart of Christ for our Holiness” located on our website (www.gbcaz.org/2013/11/111013-sermon/). The elders are also available to answer any questions.

Book of the Month
This month’s book of the month is Courageous Churchmen by Jerry Wragg ($15). With piercing clarity and straightforward, concrete biblical instruction, Wragg pinpoints the problem with current leadership trends in the church and thoroughly examines those leadership qualities that God esteems. This book will be a blessing to all who desire to grow as leaders for the sake of God’s glory and the enduring witness of God’s church. Visit the booktable for the accompanying reading guide and a suggested one-month reading plan.
