September 2, 2018 Announcements
BUILD & Wellspring
BUILD (for men) and Wellspring (for women) are ministries designed for believers in Jesus Christ who have made GBC their home church. Focusing on gospel-transformed lives and seeking to grow in Christian faith, we will learn together how to have greater influence for the gospel, starting in our homes. We will interact with God’s Word through teaching, discussion, and homework. These ministries will meet every other week. BUILD will take place on Saturdays, and will begin on September 15. Wellspring will be offered on Saturdays (coinciding with BUILD dates), and will also be available on Thursdays. Thursday Wellspring includes a children’s program (ages 0-6), and begins on September 13. If you plan to participate with us, please register as soon as possible so that we will be able to staff appropriately; space is limited. Please see the InfoTable for a flyer with additional information, including exact meeting dates. Registration closes Sunday, September 2. Register online at www.gbcaz.org/events.
SALT Monthly Meeting (ages 18-30)
Join other college and career young adults Saturday, September 8 at 6:00 pm at the Hornak household for a potluck, time of sharing, games, and fellowship! Directions to the Hornak home and potluck specifics will be shared via GroupMe. Please contact Kate Demarest 480.234.8038 if you would like to be added to GroupMe.
Defenders of the Faith – Boys Bible Study (Grades 3-5)
There will be a Bible Study starting on Sunday September 16th for boys in upper elementary where they can grow in the knowledge of the Lord and His Word and develop deeper friendships with other boys at our church. We will meet at the church on selected Sunday nights from 6:00-7:30. If you are interested in having your son participate, contact Karla Walker (email@example.com) for details about the schedule. Parents are always welcome, but are encouraged to attend our first meeting so we can share our goals and plans.
If you are newer to the church, Discovery Lunch is a great place to enjoy some food, learn more about what the church believes as well as interact with an elder, if you have more specific questions. The next lunch will be hosted at GBC on Sunday, September 23 at 12:00pm-2:00pm. Future Discovery lunches will take place approximately on a monthly basis. Please register online at www.gbcaz.org/events. If you have any questions, please contact the church office (firstname.lastname@example.org).
If you are interested in learning about membership at GBC, please sign up for the membership class. The classes will run September 30-November 4, before church from 8:15am-9:45am. Please sign up at the InfoTable or mark your interest on a comment card and place in the offering box or contact the church office (email@example.com).
Video Editing & Photo Editing Volunteers
The church is in need of individuals to serve in the areas of video editing and photo editing. If you are interested in serving the body in this way, mark your interest on a comment card of email the church office (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Book of the Month
This month’s book of the month is Courageous Churchmen by Jerry Wragg ($15). With piercing clarity and straightforward, concrete biblical instruction, Wragg pinpoints the problem with current leadership trends in the church and thoroughly examines those leadership qualities that God esteems. This book will be a blessing to all who desire to grow as leaders for the sake of God’s glory and the enduring witness of God’s church. Visit the booktable for the accompanying reading guide and a suggested one-month reading plan.
