Music Devotion by Mick Pagel

1 John 4:9-10
In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

This word, propitiation, to a Christian, should be one of our favorite words and should be one we work into our thoughts, prayers, and conversations regularly. Why? Because the worst news for any sinner is that God’s wrath is all-consuming, never-ending, and ready to engulf them at any minute. Therefore, this word, propitiation, which means the satisfaction of God’s wrath, heralds the best news for us and pronounces us “INNOCENT.” God’s wrath against us is satisfied through Christ’s death on the cross in our place. God is now our Father, and we are now not only innocent but are adopted into His family! Let us rejoice in the blessing of the gospel and thank Jesus for all He’s done for us sinners!
