JAMES 5:16
Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.

James is addressing those who are “sick” in this particular part of James 5. I’ve always found it interesting that one of the remedies for this sickness is confession of sins to one another. Notice James doesn’t say, “confess your sins to God.” I think James is really being intentional about whom we should be confessing our sins to. Yes, of course we should confess our sins to God, first and foremost. But, there is something about a verbal, outward confession of sin with a fellow human being that produces healing and reconciliation that wouldn’t be possible otherwise. Confession of sin with each other in the body of Christ is a necessity and it’s only by His grace that we are able to do so.
