Music Devotion by Matt York

“He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”

Christ became sin on our behalf. It’s important to dwell on this. Christ bore the weight of sin for the first time on the cross, all sin, so that we could be reconciled to God. And His wrath was satisfied. This should profoundly impact us. As ambassadors of this truth, our lives must point to the cross as we implore (Paul says “beg” in verse 20) others to be reconciled with God. In preparation for worship this week, would you dwell on the cross and its implications for humanity while considering these lyrics from “The Glory of the Cross”?

“A righteousness that proved to all
Your justice has been met
And holy wrath is satisfied through one atoning death”
