Music Devotion by Mick Pagel

Daniel 4:34
“But at the end of that period, I, Nebuchadnezzar, raised my eyes toward heaven and my reason returned to me, and I blessed the Most High and praised and honored Him who lives forever; For His dominion is an everlasting dominion, and His kingdom endures from generation to generation.”

God revealed these truths to Nebuchadnezzar, a guy who thought that he was the king of the world. But what had to take place before Nebuchadnezzar could come to this conclusion? He had to be humbled, humbled to the point of eating grass with animals in the fields. Pride is the antithesis of right and genuine worship of God and it can hide so cleverly and so incognizantly in the cracks and crevices of our hearts.

Let us pray and ask God to reveal the pride in our hearts so we can repent in order to see God and His glorious Kingdom instead of our own. May we put on humility so that we can declare as he did later in verse 37, “Now I… praise and exalt and glorify the King of heaven, because everything he does is right and all his ways are just. And those who walk in pride he is able to humble.” Let HIS kingdom come!
