Ephesians 2:1-5
And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience – among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ – by grace you have been saved …

Our transformation through the gospel was a complete reshaping of every part of us. We were once dead but made alive with Christ; we once followed the course of this world and lived in the passions of our flesh but shown mercy by the almighty God to bring us out of our sin and into salvation. What are we responsible for in all of that? We are responsible for our sin. What is the work of God through Christ? He gave us grace to save us – a perfect and complete salvation that completely changed us in every way. We praise our holy savior who loved us unto death so we might be made alive!
