Isaiah 53:5-6

But He was pierced through for our transgressions,
He was crushed for our iniquities;
The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him,
And by His scourging we are healed.
All of us like sheep have gone astray,
Each of us has turned to his own way;
But the Lord has caused the iniquity of us all
To fall on Him.

Nothing should bring about a greater soberness to the believer’s heart than the reality that Jesus was pierced for our transgressions, crushed for our iniquities, chastened for our well-being, scourged that we might be healed. And yet nothing should bring greater joy to the believer’s heart than remembering that Christ’s death has atoned for our sins and brought reconciliation for us to the Father. Our hope is found in Christ. He is our solid Rock. We can trust Him regardless of our circumstances. He indeed has dealt bountifully with us. In light of all He has done we anticipate and long for the day when we are finally home with our wonderful Savior.
