Music for May 10
Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying,
“Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him.”
Jesus was born into the lineage of King David and many other kings of Israel and Judah, making him the rightful and true King of the Jews. The magi in Matthew 2 knew this and came to worship the newborn King. Jesus’ kingship doesn’t end there, however. Because of what Jesus accomplished at the cross and through His resurrection, both Jews and Gentiles who place their trust in Messiah can now call him King. Paul says in Philippians 2, “God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth …” What a joy it is to know that we serve the true and all-powerful King Jesus!
