Women’s Retreat (Save the Date)
Save the date for our upcoming Women’s Retreat. The retreat will be August 18-19, 2018. Registration information will be available as we get closer to the date. If you have any questions, please contact Ann Angstead (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Mom’s Group meets every Tuesday from 10:00am-12:00pm at nearby valley parks and splash pads. Moms with kids of all ages are welcome. This is also a great opportunity for older moms to pour wisdom and encouragement into newer moms! Please contact Alex Pietropaulo (602.568.6597, email@example.com).
Helping Hands is our ministry that provides meals when those in our body are in a time of need. The purpose of this ministry is to practically and physically live out the “one anothers” of the Bible: caring for one another and bearing one another’s burdens. Whenever there is a need, an email goes out to all who are on the list, and an online signup is made available. If you would like to be added to this ministry, please contact the ministry (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Would you like to pray with others for the body of GBC and their specific needs? A prayer group meets before church from 9:15am–9:45am in the prayer room on the northwest side of the church. This is a time to share prayer requests, pray for each other, and for the worship service. Please note your interest on a comment card and place in the offering box. For more details, contact the church office (email@example.com).
Book of the Month
May’s book of the month is Missions: How the Local Church Goes Global ($11) by Andy Johnson. This book will compliment our next sermon in the Philosophy of Ministry series. It is a short book that captures well our church’s approach to missions. If you have any questions or want the reading guide which includes a suggested one-month reading plan for completing the book in May, please see the BookTable servants.
Restoration and Church Discipline (Matthew 18:15-17)
Jesus directs the church to patiently and gently pursue its sinning believers that they may be won back from their sin. In cases where the professing Christian refuses to repent of sin, Jesus directs the church to remove the unrepentant one from the church family and fellowship. GBC practices church discipline as prescribed by its bylaws in accordance with Matthew 18:15-17. Regular attendance at GBC is considered affirmation of this biblical practice. If you have any questions regarding church discipline please listen to our sermon titled “The Heart of Christ for our Holiness” located on our website (www.gbcaz.org/2013/11/111013-sermon/). The elders are also available to answer any questions.
